Greece is another EU country in the top ten rankings and has already welcomed huge numbers of refugees. The country was ranked sixth in the survey, with an overall index score of 65. 86 percent of Greek respondents said they are willing to accept refugees into their country, while 20 percent said they are ready to take in people into their homes. In 2015, Greece overtook Italy as the primary point of arrival of refugees. More than 850,000 refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants crossed the sea to arrive in the Aegean islands during the year. The Greek islands are close to Turkey, and thus enable quick and easy access into Europe.
