Germany was ranked second in the survey, with a score of 84. Almost all Germans, or 96 percent, said they would accept refugees into their country. More than half of respondents in the European country said they would accept refugees in their neighbourhood and a further one in ten would welcome into their home. 76 percent of Germans said they wanted their government to do more to help refugees. Germany has allowed about 1.1 million asylum seekers in to the country last year, many of them Syrians. However, it is among the several countries that have since tightened border controls in response to the flow of asylum-seekers through Europe.
